Shipping & Pickup

PLEASE CLICK ON THE BAR BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION IN EACH SECTION.

  • The painted parts of the yurt are wrapped in a protective, padded material before shipping from Mongolia. This includes all wood parts except for the walls.
  • Shipping from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, to Flagstaff, Arizona, is included in the cost of the yurt. This includes all import fees and taxes, training, cargo ship, trucks, and container costs.
  • We can hold a yurt in Flagstaff for pick up for 30 days from the date of delivery in Flagstaff. Longer-term storage options can be made after 30 days for an additional fee of $100-200 per month.
  • Vehicle – To pick up the yurt, you will need at least a full-size pick-up truck and trailer, depending on the size of your yurt. A cargo van or a small Uhaul can also work. The 8-wall will need something bigger.
  • Weight – A 4-wall yurt weighs about 1,000 pounds; a 5-wall is about 1,200 pounds; a 6-wall is 1,500 pounds; an 8-wall is about 2,000 pounds.
  • Dimensions – When planning, please give special notice to the crown/roof diameter, door width and height, crown/roof support pole, and roof pole lengths. These will be the largest, fixed measurements you need to accommodate for. Please look at our Product Detail and the Measurements and Dimensions sections for these measurements.
  • All painted wood parts are wrapped with a slightly quilted, polyester fabric that is sewn closed.
  • The yurt is packaged as follows:
    • Windows and Doors – These will be covered in quilted material.
      • There will be 1-4 packages depending on your order specifications.
    • Roof/Crown – These will be covered in quilted material.
      • One package
    • Center Support Poles – These will be covered in quilted material.
      • 1-3 packages, depending on the yurt size.
    • Roof Poles – These will be covered in quilted material.
      • 2-5 packages
    • Walls – These will be tied in 1-2 bundles, depending on the yurt size and up to 9 feet long when collapsed.
    • Felt  – Walls will be nice neat rolls with 2-4, depending on the yurt configuration.
      • Roof felt is a bundle loosely tied.
      • Felt and canvas covers can be unrolled/unpackaged to use as padding.
    • Green Canvas  – Two bundles
    • White Canvas – One bundle
    • Large white rice bag  – This will contain all ropes, hardware, window inside covers, roof/crown cover, and outer decorative skirt.

  • We usually do not have the exact date and time for the container’s arrival in Flagstaff until 3-10 days before. Once the container reaches the California coast, the rest of the process happens quickly.
  • However, we do share every update as soon as we receive it to aid in planning your pick-up logistics.
  • Below are some photos of 5 and 6-wall yurts loaded for transport in Flagstaff. And one photo of a 6-wall to be loaded without the door and no windows
  • Please see the photo above for how the yurts are packaged. They are loose or hand packed. They are not boxed or on pallets.
  • Yurts can be delivered beyond Flagstaff to your door within 35 days of their arrival in Flagstaff. This will be roughly $2.50 per mile roundtrip mile. Cost can vary depending on location and the number of yurts being delivered there.
  • We have succeeded in using UShip, which can also deliver to your door. We are happy to help facilitate that for you.
  • We are working on a box system to freight ship yurts to a freight terminal nearest to you for pickup. Please check with us about the development of this.
  • We can ship by air to anywhere in the world.
  • Additional shipping costs start at $5,000 + land transportation and import fees and taxes.
  • Contact us today if you are interested in air freight.

Please Note:

  • Delivery is 12-16 weeks from the date the order was placed.
  • This is air freight and must be shipped to an air freight terminal.
  • Because it is a smaller shipping space, the crown/roof of the yurt comes in two parts that are screwed together.
  • Some countries’ import rules and regulations could make this option impossible.
  • We can arrange shipping from Mongolia to the country’s port of entry only.
  • The customer is responsible for all other expenses and arrangements, including customs fees, duties, taxes, and VAT required for customs’ clearance, working with a local freight forwarding broker to make arrangements for pick-up or for further transportation to your final location.
  • If you are shipping by air to the United States, we can help you with the local broker arrangements.
